TOOLS YOU WILL NEED

  • Tape Measure
  • Pencil
  • Paper (Graph Paper Works Best!)
  • Digital Camera and/or Video Camera

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR SPACE

  • Sketch the general shape of your room(s). Be sure to include all locations of doors, windows, closets, built-ins, etc.
  • Using a tape measure, start at one corner and work your way around the room. Note that when you are measuring up to a window or doorway, include the moulding in the wall measurement.
  • After you have measured across each wall in the room, give us an overall measurement by measuring the length and width across the middle of the room.

Be sure to include the following in your drawing:

  • Location of doors and windows
  • Location of power outlets, phone jacks, cable, etc.
  • Height of windows from floor and from ceiling
  • Ceiling height
  • Location of any decorative lighting (sconces, ceiling pendants, recessed lighting, etc)

Helpful Tips

  • If you have built-ins, be sure to measure as well as you can.
  • We will need height of shelves, cabinets, depths…the more you can give us the better.
  • Including digital photos of each wall is most helpful!
